CFA.. Hwaiting!!!

.
.
.
.
.
I had enrolled myself into Charted Financial Analyst (CFA) course today.

Getting to know the word CFA is from Shin E, I would like to thank you her very much. Without her, I wouldn’t know there is such a thing exists.

Goooogle-ing around, climbing pages of comments in forums and asking friends’ opinions (thanks Ally C) and I came to the decision. I didn’t want to think too much as afraid of I am not going to work it out. Since it is a good thing, I would like to give it a best try.

A brief intro of CFA. It is a professional certificate in finance. It consists of 3 levels and its passing rate is damn low. The challenging of the papers has attracted my attention! Yes, this is what I want.

People always posted question on me why I wanted to study CFA

The reasons are:
1. I want to get more knowledge. =.= (Whacked by my most of the questioners because they don’t believe that) Well, I myself also wouldn’t believe that if someone answers me like that.
2. Of course to increase my value la!! Study so hard on Sunday for what? Of course for $$$$ la!! Hehe.
3. Third is I would like to join investment bank in the future like the wall street guys. You are my idols!!
4. I want to increase my earning power to the next stage!

To study hard, I need to have some motivation. Let me write down my motivation here so that whenever I am lazy, I will go through this post again.

1. I still remember my first ever post in this blog is to have a Honda Civic – Honda, the power of dreams. It is my motivation 2 years ago. Unfortunately I lost my motivation recently! =P Since everyone is looking forward, I have no choice but to set my next target as BMW 5 series or Mercedes Benz (Nowsaday, Mercedes looks great dy!). I prefer executive car more than sport car due to its comfort.

2. I still remember I said in one of my post that I don’t want to eat at food court in the future. I really mean it and no kidding at all. However, due to the financial ability now, still not achievable yet. I really wish that it will come true.  However, wishing is not enough, need to work it out!! Let me share a bit, just had my lunch with my family at Dragon-I yesterday. I paid RM150 for the bill. That’s mean I need to have high income to sustain my expenses.  Okay, my second motivation.

3. $$$$! Well, someone would say that money can’t buy everything. Yes I agree but if you don’t have money you would have nothing. My 2 cent/sense (Don’t know why they call it in that way, why not 2 ringgit =P), those who say that are those who didn’t suffer from broke before when the money in the pocket is less than RM10.  Increase my standard and market value so that I am sellable in the future.

4. JH, you need to buy FIXED ASSETS ah. Okay, roger that.

Well, I think that’s it for now. IF you would like to take CFA, do let me know, as we can study together. ;) TO MOTIVATE YOU ALL A BIT, today my classmates mostly are fresh graduates. People are working and spend their ‘supposed to have fun’ Sunday to study. Sometimes, we need to be kiasu a bit (That’s how Singapore grows and everyone would like to work there).

Graduated!

.
.
.
.
The day I made my parents proud.
The day I achieved a mile stone in my life.
The day I officially declared myself no longer a full time student.
The day I am going to start missing my classmates.
The day I am going to start missing my afternoon nap. =P
The day I was looking long enough since foundation year.

It’s my graduation day! Finally, I graduated and I can earn my salary already!

During the orientation week when I was in the foundation year, people was talking senior A is a top student with CGPA … and his gorgeous girl friend is a top student too with CGPA  …. (wwhhaaoooo) and then that senior also got high CGPA and that senior too. Those seniors look smart. Some said it was very difficult to get CGPA above 3.80. Those seniors are really ‘the geng’ or godlike. They got great job offers before the final semester.

As a newbie, it looks like the curriculum in University is very hard, those professors are insane and to graduate with good grade it seems like a distance of sky to reach. From that day onward, I set a target for myself – to study hard and obtain flying color result. Well, a student should do that as it is the responsibilities of a student.

I still remember the night with Keith when we talked about our future at our hostel. I said: “5 years to go and 5 years I will be “stuck” at this place, it is a very long way to go.” I really dislike the feeling at that moment. I really dislike the feeling of having to wait for so long and the time is moving very slowly. At that time, I emo alittle bit. =P

University life – DOTA! However, being so noob until scolded by Jason Lee. (T.T)  I don’t want to play already!

I hate the government at that time (now also =P) as they cancelled the exemption for first class honor. I went for scholarship and obtained YTL and Genting offers. Why did I choose Genting? It’s simple, Genting gave me RM4000.00 more. It sounds ridiculous but it is true. My dad said both are equivalent the same and I have to decide myself.

One more thing I dislike UNITEN is it is a boy school! Haiz, it is difficult to get to know a girl! (May be it is my problem as not being working hard enough for it) My other classmates all have to ‘hunt’ outside. You see, when my friends from another colleges told me that almost every guy got a girl friend in his class and they have a lot of options. I was so envy!!! Arrgghh! Should study business!! =P

As I typed until here, a lot of memories came across my mind. I think better to keep it in my heart.

Okay, my achievement in UNITEN is being the top student in ME (but I don’t have girl friend yet like my seniors four years back). First class, yeah, I got it, piece of cake (Just kidding). =P
My first award from Uniten.

My second award. I simply like the name of this award. hehe.

MBA

.
.
.
.
I just received an offer letter from UNITEN to study MBA. Why MBA? This is because the limit is up to the sky for business. I am thinking whether to take it at this moment or not.

Currently I am appointed as a Condition Monitoring Engineer in Genting Energy. I am the only one in the newly formed department which I have to set up all the procedures and techniques for condition monitoring. What is condition monitoring? It is a predictive maintenance; we continuously monitor the health of the plant to minimize the break down time and to ensure failure could be predicted at the early stage.

A decision made will result great changes in everything and of course commitment for 2 years. I have to consider my financial status. No more using my parents’ hard earn money, but my own hard earn money. RM 22,468++ from my own pocket. Should I take it?
.
.
I would like to express my gratitude here to my Final Year Project supervisor Prof. Dr. Ir. Ramesh for giving an A and the guidance of life to me so that I can increase my CGPA. Thank you. =)

Scaffolding 3 in 1 Competent Person

Just after I had finished my final, my dad asked me to attend a basic scaffold course. (Instruction from dad =P) It was a 6 days training + 2 days examination course. What is a scaffold? A scaffold is a temporary structure for support, load, access, protection and storage. (Yeah, I still remember. My memory is still good) Still has no idea? For example, in a construction site, usually there are frames set up around the building. They are called scaffold as shown below.

At first, I thought it would be easy by just sitting in the classroom listening to lectures. I found out that I was wrong on the second day when we went to field to erect scaffold (practical part) for 4 days. We were using GI steel tubes as components of the scaffold. GI steel + hot sun = very heavy and hot steel tubes! However, I enjoyed working with my new friends from vast background in erecting the scaffold.

Finally, I had made it! I am now a registered certified competent person for basic scaffold. My signature now can earn money for me! $.$

For those who are interested, you can go to take this course because you can earn extra income by just signing. BUT, make sure that you don't have height phobia! (Honestly, I have a tad of height phobia, working at height is not easy!!) Fees is RM2,500. I am going for a intermediate level in this coming May 17th, Melacca to increase my signature value! Hehe.

New friends with totally different background.

Took 2 hours to erect it. I thought that's it. I can go home.

The trainers were not satisfied with a low level scaffold. They instructed us to erect a 4.5m or 3 storey scaffold. (Working at height is not easy at all, hard earn money)

My practical test is 2 bays 3 lifts. 4.8 metre scaffold. I did it!!! =)

$$$

.
.
.
There are two more weeks to go before I graduate. If you ask me, am I feeling happy? I will say NO. Graduate from college meaning that’s the end of student life and it’s time to perform in life! No more playing around but have to be serious. I could feel the heavy pressure on my shoulders because I want to be a rich guy at young age. Not to say I love money but to have a better life style, money dominates in this cruel and reality world.

I don’t want to drive a kancil and get bullied on highways.
I don’t want to drive a local car that will cause me a lot of problems after 1 year or may be less than that.
I don’t want to use a phone with a keypad attached.
I don’t want to have my meals at food court.
I don’t want to go travelling with limited budget.
I don’t want to live in a place without air being conditioned (because my hostel is HOT).
I don’t want to save money by cutting down my meals and expenses.
I don’t want to pay bills, toll and petrol with a long face.
I don’t want to see the price tag before I buy. =P

Hence, I set my goals here:
1) Wear a suit with collar shirt and necktie working in office.
2) Own a reputational and money making company.
3) Buy a BMW 5 series car. It costs around RM500,000. A monthly installment of RM8333 is needed for 5 years. It is costly!
4) Own a BIG high-tech and comfort house.
5) At least not going to eat at food court everyday!

To achieve that, I have to work hard and smart. I want to become
1) 1st grade Steam engineer
2) Design engineer
3) Safety and Health officer
4) Chemical Health Risk Assessor (CHRA)
5) Last and most important – a successful businessman!

Setting my goals here is to enable me to check my progress in the later time. Happy graduation and it’s time to work hard for future!!

Why our pay is low?

http://www.malaysiakini.com/letters/125197

Click on the above link. It is an article that is worth spending your time to read. I open the floor for discussion. I had highlighted points that we should be aware of.

I totally agree with it because the money for subsidizing the petrol comes from the taxation of the people. We (whole Malaysian) are indirectly contributing to the production cost of all the products made in Malaysia.

I understand that it would be a tough time for us when we carry out the total removal of subsidies for fuel and gas especially for low income group (Price of goods will shoot up). However, we have to go through it. Nowadays, we enjoy low price of goods because they are all heavily subsidized. We don’t pay for the ‘real’ price but the government pays for us. Subsidy is not helping us because the government’s money actually comes from us. Those who enjoy the benefits are people who produce and export products using subsidized petrol. Agree?

Health is everything!

My far cousin is diagnosed to have leukemia which is blood cancer. He is going through the first stage of chemotherapy. During my visit, he looked so weak and couldn’t raise his hand up. I was SHOCK when I saw tubes going in and out from his body. I am worrying about him. Dear God, I pray that You give him the strength to go through the chemotherapy and please help him with your divine strength and love in his recovery.

From now onward, I will :
• Sleep early before 12 am ( a MUST do )
• Avoid second hand smoke. ( Cancer incubator)
• Have my breakfast everyday. (Jun Jie’s Professor said if we skip our breakfast for a day, our life will be shorter for a day!! We are prone to have cancer!!)
• Drink more water.
• Eat more fruit. ( An apple a day keep the doctor away)
• Adopt healthy lifestyle!

Health is wealth, Health is everything.

Jogoya

I made a call to Jogoya this afternoon and was frustrated by the phone receptionist. Therefore, I made an online complaint to the Jogoya. Here is how the story goes:

" I am here to complain about the service I received recently from your phone receptionist.

I called Jogoya on 27th of January 2010 at 12:15pm to find out on the availability of the restaurant on next Thursday evening. The receptionist asked me if I would want to make a reservation. As I have to get confirmation from my friends before making the reservation, I politely replied “no”. Not only did she not wait for me to finish my sentence, she bristled at my reply and straight away hung up. Needless to say, I was quite frustrated and it was RUDE! As a customer, this is not the kind of service I would expect from an established restaurant like Jogoya and I am utterly disappointed with the rude treatment from this particular receptionist.

I believe and hope that Jogoya will uphold its motto of providing a warm service to all customers and take prompt actions against these inappropriate responses towards customers. I sincerely hope that I would get a reply on this matter before I invite my friends and family again to Jogoya.

Thank you. "

Thank you for correcting my complaint :-)

1218

Sorry to my blog followers for my not up-to-date blog. I am busy in writing my thesis because my final year project supervisor is going to read it line by line, chapter by chapter. As you know, my supervisor is Prof. Ir. Dr. Ramesh, he is very stringent in giving out an A. Unfortunately, I want an A for my FYP so I have to do it perfectly without flaw. Here are some updates from my past few weeks:

It is my 22nd birthday!! 1218..
